To open a transitional home for women currently living in a homeless situation that would cultivate spiritual growth, teach personal responsibility, and assist them in developing skills necessary to achieve success in life.

The Problem

There are many women living on the streets that have become displaced by job loss, family crises, or addiction. The lifestyle that they are sometimes required to engage in destroy any sense of value they may see in themselves and causes them to live their life in shame and condemnation. Attempting to stabilize ones life, while caring these emotional wounds, is nearly impossible.

If these women had a place where they could stay that would minister to their spiritual as well as physical needs, offering them biblical guidance, teaching them life skills required for success in the work place, providing them with the tools to succeed in life, and establishing who they are in Christ, we believe that there would be a fewer number of them living on the streets. The result of this would be reduction in crime rate, reuniting of families, and an increase in the number of people in our communities that desire to serve God by serving others.

HOSANNAHouse - Not a “Shelter”

HOSANNAHouse will not be a “Women’s Shelter”. We wish to depart from the shelter mentality and keep the number of women small. By keeping the numbers low, we will be able to focus more on ministry than crowd control. The current house will hold 5 residents.

In addition to keeping the population small we want the environment to be pleasant. We plan to have the house tastefully decorated and furnished with new or gently used furnishings. While appreciating the hearts of those who wish to donate used furniture and housewares to a facility such as this, it is difficult to take these items and make it look like a “home”. The concept of “Home” is foreign to some of these men and something that we would like to be part of the HOSANNAHouse experience. By giving them a taste of home in the house, they will be more likely to establish a home upon leaving.

The Program

At HOSANNAHouse, we desire to create a structured environment that will meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as teaching life skills that will be required when the women exit the program. The plan is not to create programs and curricula of our own, but to plug in to organizations that are already doing these things well.

Addiction Recovery - Residents will be required to participate in Christ centered programs that empower them to walk in victory over any and all life-controlling behaviors that have kept them in bondage.
Biblical Study - Residents will be required to attend church, the CHOP, and participate in Bible studies in the home that will help them cultivate their walk with God.
Spiritual Healing - Residents will attend classes at area churches that will lead them through the healing process from the life that they once lived.
Life Skills - Volunteers with experience in wide array of life skills will teach concepts such as etiquette, personal finance, dressing for success...etc.

I am honored that God has entrusted this endeavor to Compassion United. In addition to this, I am truly grateful that you would consider supporting it at any level. Through financial support and prayer of partners and friends like you we feel that we can make a difference in the lives of the hurting. Our success in the past 5 years with Freedom House and JoyHouse has proven that our approach will promote healing and growth in the lives of hurting women, and am honored that you would chose to be a part of it.
